Ping King
I went on a bike ride the other day and came across some table tennis tables outside Birmingham Council House, with bats and balls for the public to play. I had a little game, but then a guy came giving it ‘the BIG talk’ . . . so I politely smashed him to bits! LOL! It was a good game of banter and people started to watch! It was 2 games each, so had a decider to 11 which I won by default as I beat him 6-0!
I got back on my bike, came home, got the net to find out more. There are 55 tables across Birmingham as part of the campaign to raise the profile of sports in the run up to 2012 Olympics in London. The tables are here for a month, but some will be be permantly staying. www.pingbrum.co.uk for further info
The following day I went to the ‘Ping Parlour’ on Corporation Street, Birmingham central. There are a few tables to play in there but they are a little bit smaller than the usual table tennis table. After a quick few minutes to adjust – I again smacked people in there, but had to leave early! I have made it a personal aim to go to as many tables as possible and smash people when I get there! . . . The goal is to become the ‘Ping King!’ – LOL!
Went for another ride Yesterday and ‘HAD’ to detour via the city centre so I could find some more Ping King victims! I went to Brindley Place as I heard there was some Chefs from Bank restaurant (via twitter) that were supposed to be good! One was there, but had just got a beating from a guy from Sweden. I played the winner . . . and smashed him! He couldn’t handle the serve (slightly wind assisted!).
I took a ride round the other tables and couldn’t find anyone good enough to play – Too many families playing, taking up valuable smashing space! I absolutely love these tables – I hear theres a ‘Ping King’ competition at the end of the month – You know who’s gonna be wearing the crown don’t ya! 😉
